It all began on a nice sunny day in Portsmouth. ScumRun teams SkunkWorks (in the Mitsubishi GTO) and Axles of Evil (in the Ford Cougar) met up at the infamous Micks Monster Burger for dinner before making the trek East to Dover and the Ramada Hotel; the starting point for the ScumRun.
After a brief night of frivolity and chatting with the early arrival runners, its off to bed to get an early night ready for the big day. The morning comes, and the car park has filled with may scum runners...
After a quick look around it was time to go and sign up:

And then we depart for the ferry:

Secondly, we have to figure out how to affix the headlight deflectors on the GTO. Being a 22 year old car, none of the guides match up, so we just take a wild stab at it. Hopefully no Europeans were blinded by are attempt.
And lastly, Gregg managed to misplace our GB sticker. He wanders off to get one while I strip the car down looking for it, and the SD card. Failing to take his phone with him. I manage to locate the sticker, but due to aforementioned comms issues, we now have two. Never mind. He also managed to source an "apology" 4gb card. It will have to do.
So with those issues resolved, we board the boat, destined for god knows where (although my suspicions are for a germany > poland > czech > austria > swiss > france loop.
Cars load on to the deck as Sqdrn. Cmdr. Joe Richardson salutes the troops.
Goodbye Blighty... we'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when....

We receive our day 1 route card, and we are off to Germany. Cologne (Koln) specifically. With a check point nearby. We have a choice of stopping at either the castle or Phantasia Land. We opted for the latter.

We rocked up to find one of the other teams (one of the thunder bird 2's) just taking their own checkpoint photos so we managed to get them to take ours... Cheers chaps.

So that was day 1 over... no dramas yet, although we did get a little lost looking for Phantasia land. Next up: day 2, the adventure continues...
