A sticky situation

Due to availability of people, and the order in which the stickers arrived, the sticking of the van has spanned two weekends.  First pass was Gregg and I, applying the non-serious stickers.

We used masking tape to hold things in place to get approximate spacings right, and then stuck things down after that.  Once the window stickers were done we moved on to the bodywork.  The main one here was the chevron running the length of the car.  This is surprisingly difficult to do for several reasons, but mostly due to the fact that the chevron sticker is foil-backed so has no stretch or give in it.  This means there are a fair few creases, and bubbles in it.  Never mind.  It is the scumrun after all.

Unfortunately rain stopped play at this point, so we didn't get a chance to stick up the whole of the passenger side of the car, but we did get the windows done.

So, week two, the actual official stickers have arrived, and Adam, Mike, and I get a slightly more sunny day to finish off the wagon.  Stage one, again, is using masking tape to get everything lined up correctly.  Agree on spacing and location of things.

We started applying the stickers, but it seems Adam and Mike had forgotten everything they learned last time about smoothing the sticker as you go.   Oh well..  You can't tell from a distance, if you squint, at an angle, in the dark......

We soon got into the swing of it though, and the rest of the stickers went on without too many dramas, including a reasonable job dealing with the gap in the sliding door.

One thing we did need to add was some structural duct tape.  We have a few speed holes, and a loose light fitting that needing securing so the tape of duck was applied.

And that is that, for the most part.   We may look at adding in some flashing lights or something else in the next few days, stay tuned to the blog for more info, but other than that this is the beast in its final form...

Note: there is still space for some more sponsorship logo's if anyone wants to add some more donations to the pot. Nudge nudge....
